I don't live on a farm!

I was watching Big Brother the other night and one of the guys was from Texas. Actually, he was from Port Neches; which is the town right next to the town that I grew up in.

So WHY did they show a cow mooing before they showed his house?

It annoys me to no end when people think that Texans ride horses every where they go and live on farms/ranches.

We Don't!!
And it's kind of ignorant of you to think that we do. I also hate when they have movies about Texas and every one has that annoying "southern accent." Yeah, There are some people that have that accent but a lot of us don't! I don't, Aaron doesn't, none of my friends do, none of his friends do.

When I went to California and would say where I was from I always got the "What?! You don't sound like you are from Texas." Good! I think that it makes you sound stupid when you over work your jaw. Do you think that it's cute? It's not! No wonder people think that we have tumbleweeds rolling across our dry lands ... I would think the same thing if when I tried to talk to people they spoke so hick.

Anyway ... that's my rant of the weekend!

I also hate this.
A LOT.

People are SO stupid.

Hello – we live right next to Houston, its the 4th largest city in the US.
There are new and modern things in Texas, we DON’T speak with a crazy accent, and almost NO ONE has animals surrounding their homes.

I have always hated the TX stereotypes. People assume the stupidest things about us. Grr..

Hey, it's Julia. YES, you do have a Southern-sounding accent. You DEFINITELY do. BUT, I think that accent is attractive, and I agree with everything else you said about Texas not being a farm-filled hickland. It's actually more technologically advanced in some areas than it is out here. Especially when you compare Dallas to Tulsa or Oklahoma City. Waaaay different, but in the same "urban" class.
